Lots of Old-Style techniques exposed and embellished |
The Skiers Edge is a tribute to the techniques of the past. The author does not really believe in the carving revolution, saying that true carving is (almost) never realized. The book is full of tips on how to pivot and twist and has lots of physical forces with arrows to explain it all. If it were not for the latest developments in ski construcion Id add another star, but for the new millenium the book has a big hole in it. True carving with ground contact is the way to go, not airborn pivoting and steering angles of the ski. Just look at top racers like Killian Albrecht and Benjamin Raich; Wherever possible, they carve perfectly. In the future this will be the only way to win races.

This is the one book you should read if you are a skier. |
This book is the ultimate if you really want to become a good skier. The author has successfully described how as an individual you can learn to ski to a very high level by understanding the fundamentals of the sport. If you are serious about improving your skiing, irrespective of what level you are at, then buying this book is money well spent. And I can guarantee that you will read it more than once.

Best technical skiing manual yet written! |
Le Master successfully dissects skiing technique better than any predecessor--using simple written analogies and liberal use of sequential "time-lapse" pictures. This book is worth its weight in gold--especially for the serious skier!
